When the sleeping pad is in place, you're guaranteed not to roll off the surface in the middle of the night. And a sleeping bag isn't nearly as comfortable if you don't have a soft place to rest your head. That's why the Dream Island includes two built-in pillow pockets that hold your fleece or camp pillows. Big, warm, great for car camping with the family.
This bag is big, well made, and warm. The size is spacious for two adults and comfortable. My wife doesn't like "mummy" bags since she feels they are too confining, but she finds this bag very comfortable with both of us inside. When car camping with the family the two of us sleep warm and comfortably with our two year old sharing the same bag. We are fit, 6' and 5'3" adults, and there is room to spare in width and length.
Keep in mind this bag does not come with insulation on the bottom, as Big Agnes designs them for use with a sleeping pad (a built in pocket keeps the pad secure with the bag, a nice feature in my opinion). Big Agnes sells a single pad that will fit in the bottom pocket of this bag, however we use two 77x25" ThermaRest BaseCamp large pads and it is very warm and comfortable.
For car camping, this bag is great. The extra weight and bulk associated with the synthetic insulation is really a non-issue since you just haul it in the car (I would...

I love this sleeping bag
This bag is incredible. So roomy and so warm, love the scalloped edge at the top so it closes around you at the neck and shoulders, What a great nights sleep we had in this bag. Can't say enough good things about it. Big Agnes Dream Island is really a dream come true. Amazon shipping had it to me in less than 24 hours.
Roomy bag for couples - but not 15 degrees
I bought this bag to replace two Coleman flannel bags ("Ash Creek" - great bag, btw) that we had zipped together for car camping. The Coleman bag was x-wide and x-long, and very comfy. The problem with the flannel bags was that it took up a huge amount of space in my smallish car (I left them zipped together and rolled, to save hassle). Finding a more compressible 'couples' bag to replace it was not easy. I purchased this based on other reviews so thought I should add my thoughts:
- Size: To give you an idea, I laid this across our queen-sized bed and it covered it (fully, I'd say).
- Our Size: I am 6'1", about 200 pounds and she is 5'8", about 165 pounds
- Foot area: Plenty of room. Does not taper down very much.
- Compressibility: Buy an XXL Granite Gear compression sack on Amazon to get it to the size of a small watermelon.
- Weight: very lightweight, at least compared to 2 flannel bags!
- Zippers: Worked fine, one on each side.
