Comfortable double-pad setup!
We have a small RV that we use for camping when we go motor racing, and the pull-out couch/bed's padding is not thick enough, and the seams are a little to wide, to afford the uber-comfort required by my Princess Pea soul mate. Being an old backpacker, I figured that these new-fangled self-inflating pads might work. When I saw that ALPS made a mating pair, that was it and I pulled the trigger and ordered the set.
These pads are amazing! You unroll them, stick them together with the velcro, open the pair of valves on each pad, and in like less than 30 seconds they are puffed up and ready to roll (don't forget to close the valves to keep 'em fat). They are a joy to sleep on and they made me a serious hero to the Princess. Each of the two pads in the Double kit include a nice nylon case with pull-string top and a couple of web loops to hold the pads in a roll (more on these bad boys ahead).

Comfortable alternative to airbed - make sure you top it off!
I purchased this pad to replace a camping airbed from a major manufacturer that finally gave up the ghost. The airbed, when it was in it's prime, was extremely comfortable. The problem is, that the "prime" didn't last long, and I got about 7 or 8 camping trips out of it before a seam split and it deflated for good.
When I initially received the ALPS pad and allowed it to self inflate, I was a little skeptical. When it finished inflating, I lay down on it and it wasn't much more comfortable than sleeping on the floor. I'm a XXL guy, and I often have problems like this, because generally MY specs exceed the working specs of the product :). I found that when I placed one mat on top of the other, it was VERY comfortable, but the whole point of the double pad was so that both me and my happy camper can get a good night rest. I found all I needed to do was loosen the valves and top off the pad with a bit more air - this made the pads a nice thickness and definitely better than sleeping...
Great Customer Service
I was looking for a mattress to use with our double-size Big Agnes brand sleeping bag and I liked that this one came apart so I can use one with a regular sleeping bag when the wife isn't camping with me. Also, I believe it will be much easier to transport as two individual mattresses than one large one. Also, I had read some reviews that said the single pads that used straps to hold two together didn't work very well. I really can't compare the comfort of this mattress to other brands because I've never owned one before, but I'm pleased with this one. It is very supportive and of course, adjustable based on the amount of air in it. We find that we both like a little less air than what it fills up with by opening the valve, so we let it air itself up the press a little out, then close the valve.
The problem we ran into was that one of the mattresses had a very small leak somewhere because after the first night, the one I was on had lost enough air pressure that I could...
